The story tells about several decades of the life of Forrest Gump, a slow-comprehensive person with distinctive physical strength, from Alabama, who lived and was affected by some of the obvious events that occurred in the latter half of the twentieth century in the United States, specifically during his upbringing from 1944 to 1982. The film is very different from the events based on Winston Groom's novel, including the character of Gump and many of the events filmed.
