The film revolves around the twelfth-century Danish prince Hamlet (Kenneth Brana) who returns home and finds his father (Brian Blissed) murdered and his mother Gertrude (Julie Christie) married to his uncle Claudius (Derek Jacoby), who then learns Hamlet that he fought his father and swears to take revenge on him, while the nephew of the King of Norway mobilizes a huge number of troops to attack Denmark.
