Solic, the boy, whose name is a metaphor for his original name Solomon, lives with his Jewish family in Nazi Germany, and in order to hide his origins, family and Judaism, he joins the Hitler Youth, in an attempt to hide his identity, especially after the night of broken glass in Germany.
