The story of Pascal, a French traveler, and cook, falls in love with Georgia and a Georgian princess in the early twenties. Everything is fine until the arrival of the Red Army of the Caucasus, where the Soviet revolution that swept Russia comes to Georgia. The story is told in a way that feedback from the present, through a French-Georgian man whose mother was Pascal's mistress and who translates his memoirs for Pascal's niece.
