Cinema Language - Close-ups
What is close-up?
Close-ups are a very useful tool in cinema, especially in dramas, usually used to show certain parts of the body, such as the face or back, and can come closer to show only the actor's mouth, or even one eye, and hope to achieve the desired effect on the viewer. It is important to know how to use it and when to use it so as not to have a bad effect on the viewer's experience, because one shot can tell and say a lot.
Employing the close-up shot in highlighting the inner components of a person. It will inevitably be difficult for the actor's performance, if a close-up shot of the face is filmed, the camera puts him under a microscope, so the actor requires more control over the expressions of everything that appears on his face, so any small gesture such as the movement of the eyes or facial muscles will be clear and if it is not good enough, it will send the wrong meaning to the recipient, and reduce the value of the artwork.
Maybe there is nothing worth mentioning here, there are many, many close-ups, and they are repeated in in cinematic work. But the stronger the story and performance, the more important, expressive and realistic these shots will be. and because most of them are quick to forget, sometimes we can't conjure them, so I chose some of them as a tribute to the artistic effort of actors and cinematographer and the filmmaker team that makes us live unique experiences every time we go to cinema.
